Powerkit is a Kontakt based virtual drum sample library instrument using Matt Guglielmo's (The Acacia Strain, END) signature kit setup and engineering at Graphic Nature Audio in New Jersey. Powerkit is meticulously captured, sampled, and mixed using Soundblind Drums brand new mixflow framework.

Features & Options

Drum View

Powerkit's Drum View allows you to click and preview each element of the kit, including both ride bells.

Dropdown menus on each element also have an "Unload" feature, which will black out the piece and remove it from being played in all mic sources.

The Snare dropdown menu also has the ability to swap between the DW and VK snare options.

Mixer

Powerkit's mixer is a fully featured 16-channel mixer with pan control, volume fader, decibel reading, mute, solo, polarity invert, and individual routing for easy Multi-Out options.

Each channel has many additional controls in the sub-section below the channels, allowing for 3 plugin inserts, 2 reverb sends, tune options, and envelope controls. Simply click on the track name, and adjust parameters below.

Reverb & One Shot controls live at the bottom of the mixer.

Sub-Mixer

The sub-mixer page functions identically to the mixer. This page is where drum elements with multiple microphones are controlled.

Kick has 4 mic sources & a Kick one-shot trigger channel. Snare has 3 mic sources & a Snare one-shot trigger channel. Mega Bell has 2 mic sources. These all funnel into the respective busses like a normal DAW.

Room High & Room Stairs are additional mono room mic options that are grouped to "Room Ambient" in the mixer.

Master FX

New to Soundblind Drums, Powerkit includes the Master FX page. It is a completely customizable 8 channel Master chain using studio grade plugin inserts.

Use any of them in any order to completely change your drum sound by adding punch, depth, transient, EQ, compression, and more:

One Shots

The One Shots page allows you to drag & drop any Kick & Snare drum sample that you love to blend in with Powerkit.

Kick controls are on the left, and Snare controls are on the right. Both are fully featured channel strips which default to the Kick Trig + Snare Trig channels in the sub-mixer. These can be mixed, routed, adjusted, and triggered however you like.

Threshold controls allow you to set which MIDI velocities you want to trigger the One-Shots. Only want it to play on 127? Or a range from 100-115? Easy.

Reverb

The Reverb page is where you can control both of Powerkit's Reverb sends.

Room Reverb on the left is an Impulse Response based reverb with "Powerkit Room" being the default. The dropdown menu includes over 110 different IRs to craft the reverb space that fits your mix.

Plate Reverb on the right is the Powerkit plate. This is a great plate reverb with standard controls that allow you to choose how wide, narrow, thick, or airy your drums sit in the mix.

Bleed Mixer

Powerkit's Bleed mixer consists of 2 pages and a new feature. Each set of ambient microphone sources has their own horizontal channel to control the volume and bleed of each kit piece.

Each Bleed Mixer channel has a mute, solo and a Link option. This option allows you to raise or lower the bleed for a kit piece based on whichever channels currently have Link enabled.

Global Link at the top right of the Bleed page allows you to toggle all of the Bleed mixer to quickly adjust the kit piece in all ambient mic sources.

Grooves

Powerkit comes bundled with MIDI Grooves written by Matt Guglielmo and Kyle Brownlee.

Included are full song MIDI tracks from The Acacia Strain and END, customized and humanized specifically for Powerkit.

MIDI Mapping

Powerkit allows you to map each articulation to two MIDI notes for ease of use and programming. Clicking on the articulation name will play a preview sound of that articulation.

Clicking Presets allow you to quickly change to 13 popular drum maps for other drum library software.

You may now also Import and Export MIDI maps within Powerkit's Preset menu.

Velocities

Powerkit includes a Velocities page to allow you to change all velocity curve values.

Full Hi-Hats CC controls are available for seamless e-kit and Vdrum use. Aftertouch is also available.

Each kit element has a respective box that can be toggled On or Off with the power buttons after being adjusted.

A Global Curve and Reset All option are also available to adjust all curves or reset to default values.

You'll receive a serial number for the Powerkit Kontakt Library. Register a free Native Instruments account, download Native Access, enter your serial for Counterkit, and download immediately.

Slate Trigger .TCI Files

Along with the Kontakt version of Counterkit, drum shell samples are provided in the form of Slate Trigger 2 .TCI files. Reinforce, customize, or entirely replace a live tracked drumkit performance with processed and unprocessed files.

MIDI Groove Pack Vol. 01 - Kyle Brownlee

Over 140+ MIDI Grooves pre-written and velocity optimized for Counterkit are included inside the Counterkit Kontakt download (through Native Access).
