ABOUT SOUNDBLIND

Soundblind Drums was created in 2022, and is operated by Kyle Brownlee (Counterparts). When the touring world came to a halt in 2020, Kyle entered the studio to create drum playthrough videos and to sample his kit. This session resulted in the samples that became Counterkit. Initially, these samples sat on a harddrive and were used in Kyle's personal collection with no intention to dive into sample library production. There was no "Counterkit" plan, nor a plan to be a software company.

Due to the downtime and additional tours being cancelled, Kyle dove into learning the inner workings of Kontakt, KSP code, UI asset design, and crafted the UX over months of iteration. What was initially a fun passion project to "put his kit into a computer" had turned into a piece of software that sounded amazing; a full cohesive drumkit with meticulous detailed room mics that felt more than just audio files.

Touring began again, resulting in a break from sample library production. In December of 2024, Kyle flew to the Graphic Nature cabin with Matt Guglielmo to craft the next release called Powerkit. Powerkit was released in August 2025 after development.

As of early 2026, another Soundblind Drums sample library has begun development, along with new VST plugin tools to help create great sounding drums.

Kyle has been a drummer for over 25 years, touring for a decade, and obsessing with only the highest quality drum sounds both live and in the studio. He works day to day with Soundblind Drums crafting new instruments, samples, grooves, mix-presets. He also maintains both the website and customer support, providing unparalleled customer service with a personal touch.
